Tales from the Seventh

The New Campaign

Some Campaign Notes
This campaign world is named Dorüne, commonly known as the Stormlands because of its history of unpredictable and turbulent weather. It exists within a universe containing a collection of seven dimensional realms surrounded by a great Void. It is a place of dark magic and the supernatural, teeming with deadly shadow demons, ancient alien horrors and frightening prophecies.

It is presently the Year of the Burning Moon, (6881 cy) and it is one of these prophecies that concerns us now. It was uttered by the mad seer Aynthraen at the end of the War of the Seven. It is long and almost totally incomprehensible, but a fragment of interest reads:

"Seven by seven, the mortal realm trembles.
Storms and veils shroud mortal minds.
Stone grates upon sand and the mountainside crumbles.
High above all, the burning moon blinds.
Old seals fade and a far host assembles.
The dark hand of Hastur reaches and binds."

The Dark Hasturs were banished into the depths of the Void through the combined power of the Twin Gods in concert with a great force of mortals and immortals. Should they break free enough to manifest their powers upon the realms, another great war would certainly begin.

Guidelines and Restrictions
In order to facilitate the creation of well rounded characters and keep the power level fairly low, I am putting a few restrictions on how characters can be created. Characters will be built upon 75 initial character points with up to 50 points in disadvantages.
  1. No more than 75 character points may initially be spent on Characteristics.
  2. A minimum of 25 character points must be spent on buying non-combat skills. This includes at least 6 points in Knowledge Skills.
  3. No more than 25 character points can be initially spent on buying combat related skills and combat skill levels. In addition to this, no character can initially have more than 5 skill levels with any weapon (i.e. after weapon bonuses you must not be able to add more than +5 to any weapons OCV modifier). This includes OCV bonuses gained from martial maneuvers.
  4. Every character must spend at least 4 character points in Professional Skills.
  5. Every character gets one free Language Skill in their native language (but not literacy), and one free Area Knowledge Skill (11-) in their home area. These two free skills are usually included in every racial package deal.
  6. No character can use magic or cast spells unless they have purchased a ten point Talent for a specific mystic discipline, or have access to racial abilities.
